Momerville: 5 Ways to Spend Mother’s Day

Mother's dayOne of many classy offerings at Bergamot.

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and if you and your mother figure are lucky enough to be spending it in Somerville, we have the skinny on ways to do it right.

Bergamot Restaurant

118 Beacon St., (617) 576-7700
11 a.m.-2:30 p.m., $44 for three courses
This brunch is prix fixe, but you’ll find that each course offers a variety of choices that will pamper your momma. Buttermilk pancakes with rhubarb, strawberries and farmers cheese; a soufflé omelet with smoked haddock, asparagus, ramps and shitake mushrooms; and a mint chocolate trifle is just one brunch combination that will show mom that you at least care about her culinary senses.

Foundry on Elm

255 Elm Street, (617) 628-9999
10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., $35 for brunch buffet
When Foundry says that they’ll be celebrating Mother’s day with “an expansive brunch buffet,” they’re not exaggerating. Chef Shayne Nunes will be preparing all kinds of comfort foods, from smoked gouda and cheddar mac ‘n’ cheese to country home fries and peanut butter cookies. The list goes on and on and includes a made-to-order omelet station and a carving station. For folks who want to enjoy an à la carte Mother’s Day dinner, Foundry will serve their regular menu with some special additions after 5 p.m.

Kelly’s Diner

674 Broadway, (617) 623-8102
6 a.m. – 2 p.m.
If you’re looking for something a bit more low key–and easier on your wallet–then head over to tried and true favorite in Ball Square. None of the frills of a more schmancy brunch, this retro, traditional diner will serve up some of the best eggs around.

Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Fixer meet up: Saturday 6-8 p.m.
We know that not everyone wants to celebrate every holiday at the table. If you’re not in the market for a Mother’s Day brunch, consider swinging by the Somerville Tool Library (located at Parts and Crafts) this weekend. Pop Up Repair NYC will be visiting on those two days to tinker with your broken things. Is there something around the house that’s been collecting dust while mom’s been too busy to fix it? Drop it off on Saturday and pick it up on Mother’s Day for a pleasant surprise. Is your mom a fan of fixers? Then bring her to talk shop with the folks behind Pop Up Repair.
