Did you know that Boston officially recognizes October 4th as “Mission to Burma Day?” Did you know that Nirvana, R.E.M., and Moby are just a few of the groups that list the post-punk group as a major influence? Did you know that they’re only scheduled to play one show in the area this year, and it’s a benefit for our very own Somerville Local First?
Well, you know now. More knowledge after the jump.
In their first hometown performance in over a year–and, as mentioned above, the only one slated for a while–Mission of Burma will be joined onstage at the Arlington Theater by Minibeast (featuring Mission’s Peter Prescott), and Quincy’s Bugs and Rats. Tickets range from $22 to $27 (which includes a maintenance fee), and even though it’s an all-ages show, beer and wine will be available with ID.
Funds raised will go towards Somerville Local First’s mission to help local and independent business in the city. For more info about SLF and the event itself, check out our event page.
Local business, local music, local goodness. See you there.
