Suhas Kavthekar, a Mumbai-based Rangoli portraiture artist, will be in theBoston area for one-month and has graciously offered to share his 20+ years of experience with sand painting, unique both for its beauty and spirituality. Through the application of colorful powders to a horizontal surface, designs of varying difficulty emerge from simple geometric shapes to flowers; and from deity impressions to more intricate interpretations of the world around us. Like our world, this painting is dynamic in nature and cannot remain static for long, offering a lesson in impermanence to all.
