A November poetry reading with Gloria Monaghan, Ed Meek, and Doug Holder.
Gloria Monaghan is a professor of Humanities at Wentworth Institute in Boston. She has published three books of poetry, Flawed (Finishing Line Press, 2011, nominated for the Massachusetts Book Award), The Garden (Flutter Press, 2015), and False Spring (Adelaide). Her poems have appeared in The Alexandria Quarterly, 2River, Adelaide, the Aurorean, and Nixes Mate, among others. Her poem ‘Into Grace” won the 2018 Adelaide Voices Poetry Award and was nominated for the Pushcart Prize.
ED Meek writes poetry, fiction, articles and book reviews. Luck, a collection of his short stories, came outin 2017. Spy Pond, poems, came out in 2015. His new book of poems, High Tide, is coming out nextyear. He has been published in The Boston Globe Magazine, NPR’s Cognoscenti, The Boston Review,The North American Review, etc. He teaches creative writing at Cambridge Center for Adult Education and is a Teaching Artist for The City of Boston.
Doug Holder is the founder of the Ibbetson Street Press. He teaches writing at Bunker Hill
Community College and Endicott College. Holder ran poetry groups for psych. patients at
McLean Hospital for over 30 years. His poetry and prose have appeared in The Boston Globe,
Cambridge Tab, sPoke, decomp, North of Oxford, STUFF, The Scrambler, Rattle and many
others. Holder co-wrote a play ‘ The Patient’ with Lawrence Kessenich, that had a staged
reading at the Playwright’s Platform in Boston, and was published by the PRESA PRESS of
Rockford, MA. He holds a Master of Liberal Arts degree from Harvard University–in English
and American Literature and Language.
