Mexican pop-up night at Daddy Jones

villamexicoCraving burritos? You’re in luck.

For one night only, Daddy Jones in Magoun Square will open its doors to the former Beacon Hill hot spot Villa Mexico Café for a festive pop-up night.

For those of you not familiar with the cafe, it’s a revered burrito joint that used to call Beacon Hill home, until they were forced to move from their Grampy’s gas station spot in January. Since then, owner Julie King has been working non-stop to reopen her famed restaurant on Cambridge Street in Boston.

While we will have to wait some time to enjoy the King’s burritos on Cambridge Street, Somerville residents can get a first taste of them tonight.

For $50, you can enjoy a four-course meal, with vegetarian options and a cash bar. Tickets include dinner, service and gratuity. There will be two seatings: one at 6:30 p.m. and another at 8:30 p.m.

If you need an excuse to go, just remember Villa Mexico Café has been credited with one of the best burritos in Boston. The NFT Guide, for one, said that “it’s places like Villa Mexico Café that separate the real foodies from the poseurs.” Daddy Jones is not too shabby either, as it is quickly becoming a Magoun Square favorite.

So, what are you waiting for? Put on that coat, enjoy the nice weather outside and make your way to Magoun Square, and quickly. A heavenly burrito awaits you. –Lucas Parolin
