Can you think of a better way to kick off your weekend than by eating, drinking and judging strangers? If not, you’ll want to head to East End Grille tonight as they kick off a 4-week singing competition hosted by former American Idol finalist Erika Van Pelt. Surprises, guest judges and great local talent are all on the menu, and while the winner won’t be crowned until January 30, you can stop by each week to cast your vote for the Somerville singer with the best set of pipes.

Slumbrew’s new taproom at Assembly Row has been hosting a bunch of events for those in all stages of parenthood – moms of toddlers, stay-at-home dads and more. This meetup is a chance to leave the kids with a sitter and relax over brews with other new and not-so-new parents in the area. You know you deserve this.

If you missed their January 2 show with Soulive at the Paradise, there’s no need to stress – every Sunday night, you can catch Dub Apocalypse at Bull McCabe’s in Union Square. Featuring some of the Boston area’s best musicians on original dub reggae instruments, it’s a night of music everyone should check out at least once.
