Turns out, it’s a small barrel of beer that contains 10.79 gallons – or roughly a quarter of the amount that your average barrel would hold. Firkins typically house “real ale,” AKA beer that hasn’t been cold-filtered, pasteurized or carbonated outside of simple yeast fermentation. The more you know!
