Scouted: Auditions for Somerville Theatre’s 100th Anniversary Show

Somerville Theatre & Ballroom3Think you’ve got talent? Sign up for the April 12 audition for a chance to perform on the closing night of the Somerville Theatre’s 100th anniversary celebration.

The theater is looking for family-friendly vaudeville and novelty acts to be part of this special event, which takes place May 11. Performers will be paid.

The May gala will also include live music by the Somerville Theatre Orchestra and classic short movies. It will finish off with a showing of the “Wizard of Oz” on the big screen, in 35mm technicolor.

The mix of movies and live acts is meant to recall the Somerville’s history as a vaudeville and movie venue. The theater is encouraging audience members to dress their best for the May 11 show, just as audiences in the theater’s heyday would have done.

The latest information about auditions and about the Somerville Theatre’s Centennial Programming (including the May 11 finale) can be found on the theater’s website.
