Semolina Kitchen and Bar is officially open for breakfast Monday through Saturday, with limited bar hours and expanded lunch and dinner service coming soon.
At 572 Boston Ave. in Medford, not far from Tufts, Semolina Kitchen and Bar opened last night for its first-ever evening of bar service.
The bar and restaurant, a new venture from the team behind Dave’s Fresh Pasta in Davis Square, debuted breakfast on July 20; Semolina is now serving house-made pastries and baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, coffee and more from 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday-Friday and from 8:30 p.m. through 1 p.m. on Saturday. Breads and brioches are also made in-house.
After last night’s soft open on the bar side, Semolina will serve drinks semi-regularly as the staff shifts into full service. Follow along on Facebook or Instagram for each day’s schedule. (Today, if you sneak out of work early, you can grab beer, wine and cocktails in the space until 4:30.)
Dave’s employee Lauren Hobbs describes the Semolina concept as “slightly European.” There’s a wood-fired pizza oven, and according to the restaurant’s Instagram, entrees will include pasta dishes plus wings and other apps. On draft, you’ll find local brews from Night Shift, Notch and Maine Beer Company. “It’s a natural extension of Dave’s,” Hobbs says.
Regular lunch and dinner hours will follow soon, which mean it isn’t too long until you can take advantage of that pizza oven whenever you please.
