Somerville students meeting Michelle Obama

scholarship-300x300Five fifth-grade students from Somerville’s Arthur D. Healey School are heading to the White House Thursday, April 4 to meet with Michelle Obama.

The First Lady singled out the five local students to help spread the word in an attempt combat childhood obesity.

Ariana Docanto, Brian Chan, Gabriela Lopez, Lana Popovic, and Sarah Sweeting have been tapped by Obama because of their hard work manning the Healey School’s garden.

The garden is affiliated with Shape Up Somerville and this is the fifth year Obama has invited students to help spread the word regarding healthier eating habits.

“I am really excited because this might be my life memory, to ever get a chance to meet Michelle Obama,” Chan tells WBZ-TV here.
