Listen up, foodies. Spoke Wine Bar, the chic new hot spot located at 89 Holland St. next to Dave’s Fresh Pasta, has opened up an old-school vino bar in the spot formerly occupied by Black & Blues clothing store.
Paul Christie, the well-respected mixologist from the former Gargoyles, is tending bar and serves up offerings that include curated cocktails, like the mezcal and Chartreuse Afterward, in addition to its impressive list of wines.
John Paul daSilva, from No. 9 Park, heads the kitchen and the menu includes spicy lamb sausage ($20) and steak tartare ($14). The menu also boasts several pickled options, including a coppa di testa with pickled egg ($12) and pickled sardines ($14).
It’s a narrow space–boasting 12 tables and 10 spots at the bar–so expect a line. However, many vino connoisseurs were sipping away a Dave’s Fresh Pasta, where Spoke Wine Bar’s owner is also a vino buyer.
