It has been an honor taking photos of you and your families from a distance for #TheFrontStepsProject. Stepping out to take your photos has been the highlight of our photographers’ weeks, and sharing them has brought a sense of connection back to us and our readers. Documenting the faces of our communities during the pandemic has been our way of adding to the history books, and we have been inspired by the strength, positivity, and love shown by the subjects of these photos. We are so appreciative of everyone’s time, words of support, and generosity.
Given the recent updates from the state regarding the stay-at-home advisory, we need to pause the project to protect everyone’s health at this time. This decision was made to protect not only our community members, but our photographers and their families as well.
Shoots scheduled through Saturday, April 11 will still take place. An indefinite pause on the project begins Sunday, April 12. For those interested in having their photos taken in exchange for a donation, there is limited availability this week. Send an email by 7 p.m. on April 7 to sign up.
Throughout the next few weeks, we will begin sharing one “Scout Supporter of the Day” every afternoon to show our appreciation. We also encourage you to submit your own photos that show how you are managing staying at home.
Since our April fundraiser began, our readers have contributed nearly a third of our most basic needs goal of $10,000.
We still need your help to pay our staff and keep our websites running. If you have the means, please consider donating to Scout—any amount makes a difference. Your contributions ensure that we can continue publishing content that is free and important to the public.
If you have any questions regarding the status of #TheFrontStepsProject or to sign up for an appointment this week, please email Scout publisher Holli at firstname.lastname@example.org.
