Still making your Valentine’s Day plans? Here are some distinctly Somerville events around the city for those who want an alternative to a sit-down dinner.
Tongue in Cheek, an all-female group of cabaret performers, is hosting an anti-Valentine’s Day show for “the happily single, the ambivalently partnered, and everyone else,” promising to “spurn cupid” with music ranging from jazz to rock to folk. Wine, beer, and snacks will be available for purchase. Bonus: if you attend with your ex, the performers will give you a prize.
Feb. 14, 7:30 p.m. | Arts at the Armory | Free; donations accepted
EHChocolatier Valentine’s Day Pop-Up
This event is over the border into Cambridge, but we thought Somervillians would want to know where to find our own EHChocolatier for a Valentine’s Day fix. EHChocolatier will set up shop inside Salt & Olive in the days leading up to Feb. 14, offering salted caramel hearts, spicy red hot crunch bars, and “lush bonbons.”
Feb. 9-14, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. | Salt & Olive
WholeTone Opera, which “seeks to highlight female, femme, and non-binary composers and artists,” is bringing the undead to Davis Square this Valentine’s Day. Get ready for comedy, gore, and a love triangle with a twist. Audience members are welcome to dress as zombies.
Feb. 9-14 | The Rockwell | $18-52
If the Winter Games are your true love this Valentine’s Day, LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Assembly Row is the place to be. At this adults-only event, guests can participate in LEGO Olympics—think a freestyle build challenge, alpine speed building, and more—and even win a gold, silver, or bronze medal. A cash bar will be available.
Feb. 14, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. | LEGOLAND Discovery Center Boston | $22.95
This popular show by Eve Ensler aims to promote female voices and prevent violence against women. Proceeds from this show will go to the Planned Parenthood of Boston.
Feb. 16, 7:30 p.m. | Warehouse XI | $22-38

“The Ladies of Comicazi” are running a card-making event ahead of Valentine’s Day. Comicazi will have comics, cards, and crafting materials so that people can make collages and gift boxes.

Do you just really want to see Keytar Bear this Valentine’s Day? Well, you’re in luck—the beloved local performer will be at ONCE Somerville on Feb. 12 to try to stump you with music questions. The event promises “rounds of head scratching and deeply romantic questions.”
