Our 2015 Somerville gift guide was our biggest, baddest one yet, with 96 gifts from 23 of our favorite local shops. (Haven’t snagged one yet? Don’t forget to grab a copy! You can find a map with all of our pickup locations here.)
If you read the November/December Editor’s Note from Emily Hopkins—or, frankly, if you’ve ever done holiday shopping yourself—you know that tracking down the best gifts for your family and friends can sometime be a challenge. But we’re lucky to live and shop in a city with incredible, independently owned stores that are positively packed with unique items for everyone on your list. Even better: We’re part of an artistic community where local makers craft one-of-a-kind items you might not be able to find outside of our city.
Last week, your fearless editors sat down with SCATV‘s Erica Jones to talk about the rad area artists and shops highlighted in this year’s Somerville gift guide. Also in this segment, representatives from the city’s Small Business Development Department talk encouraging local entrepreneurship, and Esther Hanig of Union Square Main Streets explains what her organization is doing to support small businesses in the area. Check out the full segment below—and don’t forget to #shoplocal this holiday season!
