King of Wings has just opened its doors in Magoun Square for Somerville’s chicken lovers. The wing restaurant will be joining other culinary favorites such as Caprese Pizza and the under-construction Penny Packers restaurant that will open later this summer.
Somerville restaurant manager Ghaith Saraya from Saugus says that the Somerville location provides an excellent opportunity to reach out to students and energetic locals. He sees lots of potential in Somerville, and looks forward to serving up the freshest wings possible.
The restaurant is also passionate about maintaining an eco-friendly environment in addition to their appetizing menu. Employees must recycle when possible, and the biofuel oil used to prepare the wings is recycled as well. They are always open to hear from customers about new ways to make their company more eco-friendly.
King of Wings is one of the many new restaurants hoping to bring hungry customers to Magoun Square as part of the revival of Magoun Square. The newly renovated Magoun Square sign was unveiled by Mayor Curtatone and Ward 5 Alderman Courtney O’Keefe on May 23rd as a symbol of striving to make Magoun Square a well-known hot spot in Somerville. Mayor Curtatone also hopes that the new sign will be one of the first steps in bringing forth the new Somerville by Design program, which will enhance available resources to make projects such as the Green Line extension more manageable. This summer is proving to be an exciting time for Magoun Square, as more empty storefronts are now opening new attractions for Somerville citizens. –Jen Morgan
