Acclaimed chocolate maker EHChocolatier will move out of its Windsor Street home of eight years and into West Cambridge this fall, according to its founders.

The new location at 145 Huron Ave. will allow for a better customer shopping experience than the current spot which, co-founder Elaine Hsieh explains, is a bit hidden in an industrial section of Somerville.

“It’s a very quaint space, that kind of has a European, small-shop feel to it,” Hsieh says of the Cambridge location.

“It’s been a dream of ours since the very beginning of EHChocolatier to have a sweet neighborhood retail shop where customers can watch how our chocolates are made and be able to enjoy our unique, delicious and beautiful chocolates and confections,” co-founder Catharine Sweeney wrote in a statement. “We’re sad to be leaving our Somerville home where it all began, but excited to be part of the West Cambridge community.”

The Huron Ave. shop will be half a retail area with prepackaged treats and a display case, and half a production space where customers will be able to look in as the chocolates are crafted.

Hsieh and Sweeney wanted to move the business to Cambridge because they both live there, according to Hsieh. The two hope to have the new shop open in time for the holiday season.
