If you’re anything like us here at Scout HQ, you are probably waiting until the last minute to get all of your holiday shopping done. To be honest, it doesn’t exactly feel like the most festive and cheery season out there with the weather at 41 degrees and a (seemingly) constant rainfall.
And now, to top it all off, the amazing Somerville Illuminations Trolley Tour has unfortunately sold out.
But have no fear! You can still check out the Somerville Bicycle Committee’s Illuminations Bike Tour. Shake off those raindrops, don your warmest winter gear and revel in our city’s holiday spirit.
A Somerville staple for many years, the Illuminations Tour celebrates the folk artistry of Somerville residents who transform their houses and apartments with twinkling lights, illuminated ornaments and shrines of devotion to holiday fantasy.
The Illuminations Bike Tour is this Saturday, December 13, and leaves at 5:50 p.m. from the Somerville High School’s main entrance. Holiday lights, glow sticks, costumes and festive cheer are highly recommended. The route runs roughly to Willow Ave. and back and lasts around 45 minutes. After the ride, tour-goers can enjoy hot drinks, cookies and other snacks at City Hall. A $5 donation is suggested.
In case of heavy rain, ice, wind or snow, the event will be cancelled. Check somervillebikes.org for updates.
