The Chinese New Year Concert is an annual celebration among Chinese and other Asian populations at Berklee. In its eighth year, the concert focuses on the development of Chinese culture and music, condensed into a 90-minute program. Mexican vocalist Aida Cuevas, the “Queen of Ranchera Music,” has won a Grammy and a Latin Grammy for her work in the regional Mexican genre. Cuevas, who was the first female singer in the traditional mariachi genre to win a Grammy, possesses a unique voice and style that has helped her cultivate a successful career for more than four decades. Dreion, an R&B, soul, and gospel performing artist who is a fourth-year songwriting major at Berklee College of Music, presents an explosive celebration of black music, art, and culture. Dreion combines original music with music from some of his favorite artists, including Aretha Franklin, Prince, Michael Jackson, and the Clark Sisters. This production is a student-led ensemble that includes Berklee vocalists, musicians, and dancers.
